Countrywide 5G Network
PROJECT DETAILS
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Description: Originally conceived to bridge the digital divide for students during the shift to remote learning, this project has evolved into a massive infrastructure initiative to provide reliable high-speed 5G and wireless connectivity to rural areas of Pinal County. By leveraging excess capacity from the county’s E-Rate funded fiber network—which already connects schools and libraries—the “Final Mile” project installs towers to deliver dependable internet directly to homes, businesses, and public safety sectors. This initiative aims to provide “internet equity” to underserved communities where private providers have historically found it difficult to invest, supporting not only education but also economic development, telehealth, and emergency services across the county.
